In this presentation Kureha’s transparent retortable high barrier film, BeselaTM will be introduced. The barrier properties of Besela are realised by an organic coating. The flexible nature of this organic coating is the basis of Besela‘s high abuse resistance when compared with ceramic coated materials.
The structure and the properties of Besela will be shown. With some near practise, use, abuse and shelf-life, tests the performance of the material will be illustrated in comparison with other well known barrier materials. The specifics of the converting processes, printing and dry-lamination, will be addressed, application examples will be shown and (some) future developments will be opened.

There is a great variety of requirements to packagings of the future. In addition to a high consumer acceptance and aspects of sustainability, especially low costs of packaging material, filling as well as packing are required.
